50th Annual Lorenzo Driving Competition
Friday, July 17th
Saturday, July 18th
Sunday, July 19th
8AM-5PM Daily
Join Us To Celebrate 50 Years of Lorenzo Driving Competitions
In September 1976, the Lorenzo State Historic Site hosted a display of the Oakman Antique Carriage Collection that attracted a large group of spectators. To augment this attraction, Jack and Sue Voss from nearby Manlius attended with their Morgan horse, Starduster, hitched to their antique top buggy. The display and the presence of a horse and carriage created excitement among the attendees and the organizers and, as they say, “the rest is history.” This year, we mark fifty years from that serendipitous event. The Lorenzo Driving Competition is the oldest pleasure driving competition in the U.S.
Join us on our traditional third full weekend of July as we honor our past and continue to make memories. Everyone is welcome to attend the Friday evening, July 17, Hats Off to Lorenzo Welcome Party, beginning at 5 p.m. when we will welcome our competitors and recognize our many show supporters, vendors, and volunteers. The Syracuse Orchestra String Quartet will be on site to provide lovely background music while the ambiance of the Lorenzo State Historic Site lulls everyone into an appreciation of days gone by. The entire weekend will be filled with fun and challenging competition and added events to help mark 50 years of carriage driving history. Watch for updates on this site as well as on our Facebook and Instagram platforms.
Cheers to 50 Years of Lorenzo!
